Householder - Applications open for Accountant

Lord Howe Island Board has an opportunity for an Accountant to play a key role in providing accounting services, reports, advice, budget management, and support to ensure the organisation is compliant with statutory obligations and accounting standards. 

You will also contribute to improving financial and management accounting reporting and be responsible for the preparation of interim and annual statutory financial statements.

About you

You will have a proven record in accounting and experience in a commercial environment and/or the public sector.

To be successful, you will need to have experience in the following

  • Prepare timely financial and management reports, reconciliations, and returns to ensure compliance and support informed decision-making.
  • Lead the preparation of annual accounts and financial statements to ensure accuracy and timely submission.
  • Provide advice, training, and support to stakeholders to enhance capability and ensure accurate service delivery.
  • Develop, review, and document accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and improve performance.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports, business cases, and briefing notes for accuracy and timely submission.

Essential requirements

  • Relevant tertiary and professional qualifications.

This position offers flexible working arrangements, including working remotely off the island, due to the significant challenges in securing accommodation on Lord Howe Island.
