Damaging winds and surf conditions this Monday evening & Tuesday morning
The Bureau of Meteorology advises that a low-pressure system is strengthening in the Tasman Sea, and will push large south-westerly swells and damaging winds over Lord Howe.
Damaging surf with waves above 5 metres are expected in the surf zone, and are likely to be at their highest levels Monday evening and early Tuesday.
Damaging winds with gusts to 90km/h are expected to persist before abating during the late afternoon.
Advice from NSW SES – How to prepare now
- Trim trees and branches that could potentially fall on your home or property.
- Park your car under secure cover and away from trees, powerlines and drains.
- Secure or put away items, such as outdoor furniture, trampolines and roofing iron that could blow around in strong winds.
- Prepare an emergency kit in case you lose power or need to leave your home.
- Monitor NSW SES warnings on their website and Facebook, and check the latest weather information from the Bureau of Meteorology online.

Radio repeater work
Please be advised that contractors are visiting the Island until Friday 2 August to install a small radio repeater in the Permanent Park Preserve on Mount Gower. This will assist in improving radio coverage across the mountains, particularly for emergency responses.
