Donate your books to our new Community Book Exchange
We are pleased to announce the launch of the Community Book Exchange, opening soon for a one-year trial in the former Island Showcase Building.
This initiative is open to both the Island community and visitors, offering an opportunity to share and enjoy preloved books. Our goal is to make reading materials freely available to everyone at no cost.
Please note the Book Exchange is not a library; there will be no checking in or out of books. It’s a community space where people are welcome to take a book or leave one, fostering a free and open exchange.
To further support this exchange, a new bookshelf has been placed at the airport, making it easy for travellers to drop off or pick up a new read for their onward journey.
To help get the collection started, we’re hosting a book drop event and invite you to donate gently used books. Your contributions will help us build a community book exchange for all to enjoy.
The event will take place on Wednesday 23 April from 12:00 to 1:30pm at the Island Showcase building.
We are accepting the following genres:
- Fiction
- Non-Fiction
- Children’s Books (all ages)
- Poetry
- Comics/Graphic Novels
- Reference
Please ensure donated books are in good condition and appropriate for a community setting.
We look forward to creating a welcoming, vibrant service for everyone, and thank you for your support in making this happen. We’d also like to extend our thanks to the community volunteers who helped develop the idea for a Book Exchange.
Full details of the official opening of the Community Book Exchange will be announced soon.
