Have your say on the draft LHI Community Strategic Plan

The draft LHI Community Strategic Plan (CSP) is now on public exhibition for a period of six-weeks until Friday 2 August 2024.

The draft Plan can be viewed here and copies are on display at the LHIB Administration office during business hours:

How was the draft CSP created?

Engagement activities that can inform a CSP have been taking place since 2010 and 73 engagements were documents from 2003-2023. Community insights from extensive engagement workshops that took place in February 2024, reinforced by a community survey in April and additional engagement sessions, were used to inform the identified themes and priorities.

When the exhibition period closes, your feedback will be reflected in the finalised CSP which will be presented to the Board for adoption across LHIB and rolled out with the CSP partners.

Please note that some sections of the Plan (e.g. ‘Foreword from the Board’ on page four) are yet to be finalised.

Summary: CSP April community survey results

The CSP survey (closed on 21 April 2024) refined and validated insights which were collated at the community workshops.

Community members ranked the priority areas in the following order of importance:

  1. Health and wellbeing
  2. Environment
  3. Education
  4. Culture and Heritage
  5. Housing and Development
  6. Economy and Employment
  7. Infrastructure
  8. Governance
  9. Community Building
  10. Transport

149 total survey responses were received, including 25 from people living off the Island.

Through the CSP workshops, survey, and additional consultation with community groups, 209 unique participants have contributed to the process. This participation rate of 41% significantly exceeds the 3% average participation rate for a CSP development on the mainland.

Thank you to our highly engaged community members for their important contribution to the future vision of the Island.

Why is a CSP important?

The LHI CSP is a plan created in collaboration with the community to guide long-term decision-making. It outlines priorities, aspirations, and strategies for social, environmental, economic, and civic leadership over the next 10 years.
