Helicopter lance operations postponed

A helicopter lance operation was scheduled to occur this winter to treat priority weed species on cliff lines.

Unfortunately, the weather conditions required for the transit of the aircraft were not identified during the operational window, and operations have been postponed until next year.

These operations are subject to environmental constraints and can only occur outside of the Sooty Tern (Onychoprion fuscatus) nesting season. LHIB is planning to undertake helicopter lance operations next winter once Sooty Terns have fledged.

Helicopter winch operations are also planned for the Southern Mountains in November 2024 and February 2025. More information on these operations will be provided closer to the date.
