Marine Freight Service update

LHIB has received notification from Birdon that voyage 170 (arrival 1 March) will proceed as planned.

Residents and businesses will be able to place orders on this voyage. If unsure of cut off times, please confirm with your supplier directly.

The emergency voyage operated by Polaris arrived this morning ensuring adequate supply of essential items until arrival of the Island Trader on 1 March.

These essential items include jet fuel, diesel, avgas, ULP, and gas, as well as essential food and grocery items and some mail items.

A reminder that food and grocery items brought in on this emergency voyage will be available through the local businesses that are licenced to sell groceries – Joys shop, Diamonds, and Thompson’s store, at standard prices (with standard marine freight included rather than airfreight).

The return voyage of the Polaris tug and barge back to the mainland will include gas cages, IBCs and mail. LHIB owned machinery requiring disposal may also be transported for weight distribution and stability of the barge, pending a decision by the skipper of the vessel.

IBCs and gas cages will be transported to Port Macquarie via truck in time for voyage 170 as the Birdon dock is currently unavailable for use.
