Ned’s Beach Cliff Stabilisation Works 31 March to 18 April 2025

Specialist contractors are scheduled to undertake cliff stabilisation and hydraulic splitting works at Ned’s Beach from Monday 31 March to Friday 18 April.

These works are required to reduce safety risks and mitigate any potential further landslide activity. These works will clear sections of rock in small segments that can be easily cleaned up and reduce likelihood of damage to the shed below.

Recent inspections and a risk assessment have confirmed that the calcarenite/sandstone rock overhang behind the shed is unstable and poses safety risks in its current state.

Important information regarding public safety during the period of works:

  • The Ned’s Beach shed and the area behind the shed will remain closed and inaccessible.
  • The grass area directly in front of the shed, as well as the retaining wall area and tap next to the shed, will also be inaccessible.
  • The path along the cliff edge will be intermittently closed.

LHIB kindly asks residents and visitors to obey signage, avoid the fenced-off area, and exercise extreme caution during this time.

LHIB staff will monitor the area to ensure residents and visitors stay clear of the works.

Ned’s Beach equipment hire business will continue to operate and provide fish food from the temporary shed.
