Entering Australia via Lord Howe Island

Entering Australia via Lord Howe Island

Under the Biosecurity Act 2015, all international aircraft, vessels, and goods become subject to biosecurity control when they enter Australia. Under biosecurity control, you can only enter Australia at ports that are first points of entry (FPOE).

Lord Howe Island is not a First Point of Entry

Aircraft and vessels visiting Lord Howe Island from international departure points (including Norfolk Island) require approval from the Commonwealth Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry for entry to Australia at a Non-First Point of Entry (under the Biosecurity Act 2015).

Requirements for international arrivals

It is also a requirement that Border Force processes are followed for international arrivals:

Proof of FPOE and Border Force approvals for international arrivals must be provided to the Lord Howe Island Board before approval will be granted for entry to Lord Howe Island.
